 Mom! My braids are too tight, said Aruna.you will get used to them very soon, said Rekha with a smile .Aruna never thought she would say it. Because Aruna is actually a boy, named Arun. After doing his hair, Rekha took flowers to pin them in his hair. Arun immediately said no but Rekha gave a stern look and pinned the flowers in his braids. Aruna come and have breakfast quickly. Your friends will be here soon. First of all, my name is not Aruna and they are not my friends, said Arun angrily. First of all, I don't see Arun, I only see a young school girl, got ready neatly in a chudi, with two braids with ribbons, wearing bangles, anklets, bindi and flowers in the hair. Secondly, girls are your friends, you go to school with them, you sit with them, you eat with them and you come home with them, said Rekha 

Arun got very angry but he could say anything. Just then the girls came home and he started to walk towards the school. Neha - he is gonna cut his hair, he is too scared of his mom and the principal 

Arun - I am not scared of anyone. I can grow my hair longer than your hair 

Neha - oh really! As you can see my hair is till my hips. You can't grow your hair that long. You are too scared. 

Arun - you know what, I am gonna grow my hair longer than yours. 

Neha - let's say, if you get a hair cut, you are not a man. Do you agree? Whole class was watching 

Arun - I agree. I will prove it to you.  A man doesn't break his promises. 

It started that day and a week ago. His principal was fed up with his behaviour, so he took Arun to his room and called few lady teachers too. 

Principal - OK, teachers, since Arun doesn't get a hair cut like boys. He has go dress up as girls

Arun was shocked, so are the teachers. He handed the teachers girls uniform and asked them to change his clothes. 

He waited outside, while the teachers closed the door and started to dress him up. Arun couldn't stop them. After 30 min, the door is opened and teachers pulled Aruna out along with them. 

The principal was happy seeing Aruna on a chudi, his hair is done. 

Principal - so teachers, you all have to treat Aruna as a  girl. He has to sit with girls. 

Arun was stunned. Teachers laughed and said OK. 

A teachers walked him into the class. Whole class was stunned and as instructed he was asked to sit with girls and the principal clearly warned all the boys not to tease Aruna or there will be consequences. He sat beside Neha. 

Neha has a wicked smile on her face. 

Neha - if you want you can get a hair cut today. But remember, men don't break a promise. I hope you are a man. Arun have no idea what to do. In the mean time, principal informed everything to Aruna's mom. The entire day he was sad. Neha and the girls kept on teasing him. They walked him to his home, as all girls live in the same Street. He entered the home with shame. He doesn't know that his mom already know about his new uniform.As he entered the home, rekha came to him with excitement. She looked at him from top to bottom, few things are missing like bangles, ankles, earrings. Arun, you really look like girl. You are so pretty. Said rekha 

He was embarrassed enough for the day. He went to his room and changed into his night wear and went to his mom Mom, can you help me with my hair? Asked Arun 

Rekha smiled and asked him to sit before her. As he did. She removed the ribbons and the Braids. Then she applied oil and started to brush it. 

Arun was thinking about the promise he made to neha. He has to grow his hair till his hips 

Mom, how long does it take to grow my hair till my hips? Asked Arun 

Rekha wad surprised by it. Atleast 3 years, said rekha .He nodded his head. Do you want to grow your hair till your hips? Asked rekha Arun nodded yes. Rekha doesn't know about the promise he made to neha. So did the girls uniform fitted you correctly or not? Asked rekha .It fitted me, why? Asked Arun  I have already bought the clothe, all I need is your measurements, for your new uniforms, said rekha Rekha was excited, she could daily do his hair, dress him up as a girl, teach him household works too. Saturday is second Saturday, so it's holiday. On Monday, he took his bath and with no choice, he wore his new uniform but could do his duppata. Rekha took it and showed him, how to fold it then she pinned it on his shoulders making a V-shape on his chest. If you need any help with the duppata, ask other girls for help, said rekha "other girls " thought Arun Then she started to do his hair. Arun, you have to get up little early from tomorrow onwards, it takes time to get ready as a girl, said rekha Arun didn't answer anything but he agreed with his mom. While Arun having breakfast, rekha went to her room. Mom! I am ready to go, said Arun Not yet, said rekha 

She came to him and started to put bangles to his hands. Arun pulled him hands. Rekha looked at him and angrily, like she is gonna beat him. If you are going to attend the school as a girl, attend just like all girls, wear necessary things or cut your hair and go like a boy, said rekha angrily. After bangles, she inserted small jhumkas to his ear lobes and anklets to his legs. Just the his class girls came to his home, Hi, aunty, said neha Hi, neha. How are you? Asked rekha I am fine aunty. How are you? Asked neha I am fine. So why all the girls came here? Asked rekha Actually, all our class girls, go to school together, so we came to pick up Aruna, said neha Arun got very angry and rekha was controlling her laugh. She is ready to go, said rekha She wasn't wearing any flowers, said neha I don't have flowers right now. But tomorrow onwards she will wear flowers just like all of you, said rekha Neha was wearing a lot of flowers, so she takes some and gave them to rekha Rekha cuts them into town half's and walks towards Arun. Arun looks at rekha with pleading eyes but rekha pins the flowers on his two braids. Then the girls including Arun starts the walk to the school Aruna's life hasn't changed. He has spoken to any boys in the last 6 months. His hair started to grow. Now he can wear the chudi and Wear the duppata on his own. His birthday is coming up and rekha has a surprise for me, actually it's a shock. On his birthday, he took a head a bath and he thought, his mom has forgotten about his birthday. When he came out of the bathroom. She was smiling at him. I have bought new clothes for you, said rekha .Aruna felt happy, finally he can wear boy clothes to school. When rekha showed him the new clothes, he was shocked. Its a half saree. 

He immediately started to request rekha, not to do this. She was trying to convince him patiently. But he was not listening. Suddenly, rekha shouted at him. He became silent. You are going to school in a half saree, whether you like it or not, said rekha He wore the blouse and petticoat. While rekha filled his blouse cups with small clothes, to get some shape. He was embarrassed. After wearing the lehenga, she pinned the dupatta on his left shoulder. She was so happy. 

Then she dried his hair and did his hair. She took some jewellery. She replaced his small jhumkas with big ones, golden bangles and a necklace. When she has done, Aruna is looking so pretty and he is sad. I have another gift for you, said rekha She handed him a smart phone, which he wanted for a long time. He smiled while taking it. Rekha walked him out of his room. While having breakfast, she told him how to handle the half saree. She requested him for a pic too. She wanted to save this moment. When the girls saw him, they were surprised. He was looking so beautiful. He was feeling very shy. Rekha walked to them Girls, today is her birthday, so please don't give her a hard time. Help her. Its her first half saree. Treat her just like a normal girl, said rekha The girls agreed and neha was just starring at him. Everyone wished him. You are so beautiful, said neha Aruna blushed. Rekha was surprised to see him so happy in a half saree. He immediately sat on the couch, with his pallu on his lap. Rekha was observing everything. Aruna started to open the boxes. He opened the first box excitingly. But it's a saree. It is beautiful. Rekha immediately placed it  on his shoulder to see, how he looks in it. He opened the second box, it's a small one. They are bangles. He is disappointed. He opened the next one and he doesn't know what it is but it's ladies dress. Wow, beautiful ghagra choli, it's heavy too. You are gonna love it , said rekha Aruna didn't listen to his mom, he kept on opening the boxes. He was disappointed after opening all the gifts. All are girls stuff.
